Advancing Mental Health Nutrition on a Global Stage: Hardy's at NMI 2025

Posted on : October 28, 2025 by Hardy Nutritionals® No Comments

From October 3–5, 2025, Hardy Nutritionals had the honor of attending the Nutritional Medicine Institute (NMI) Summit in London, England — one of the world’s leading conferences exploring the intersection of nutrition, lifestyle medicine, and mental health.

This year’s theme, “The Path to Resilience: Personalized Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine for Psychiatric Disorders and Mental Health,” brought together scientists, clinicians, and innovators dedicated to rethinking how we nourish the brain and body. Hardy Nutritionals was proud to host a booth at the event and connect with so many like-minded professionals who share our vision of nutrition-based mental wellness becoming the new mainstream standard.

A Defining Moment for the Field

The 2025 NMI Summit represented a landmark moment for the global conversation on nutrition and mental health. Seeing micronutrient therapy for mental wellness embraced on an international stage underscores just how far this field has advanced — from a promising hypothesis to an evidence-based approach now recognized by clinicians and researchers worldwide.

Hardy Nutritionals has long stood at the forefront of that movement. Throughout the event, there was clear consensus that nutrition plays an essential role in supporting brain health, emotional balance, and stress resilience. This growing acknowledgment among medical and mental-health professionals reflects years of rigorous scientific research — much of it rooted in the pioneering work of David Hardy, founder and formulator of Hardy Nutritionals.

During the conference, Dr. Julia Rucklidge, Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Canterbury and one of the world’s foremost researchers in nutritional psychiatry, presented her latest findings on the role of micronutrients in mental wellness. Her sessions — “Building a Better Brain with Nutrition: The Evidence to Date” and “Enriching and Replenishing the Mind with Nutrition: A Missing Link for a Better Start to Life” — drew full audiences and generated substantial interest among practitioners.

In addition to her prolific research, Dr. Rucklidge is also co-author (with fellow researcher Dr. Bonnie Kaplan) of the acclaimed book The Better Brain: Overcome Anxiety, Combat Depression, and Reduce ADHD and Stress with Nutrition. The book distills decades of peer-reviewed research into an accessible resource for clinicians and the general public alike, bridging the gap between academic science and everyday application. Together, Rucklidge and Kaplan have helped bring nutritional psychiatry into the mainstream, validating what Hardy Nutritionals has advanced for more than two decades: that properly nourishing the brain is one of the most powerful ways to improve mental health.

Hardy Nutritionals: The Origin of Broad-Spectrum Micronutrient Therapy

It was especially meaningful for Hardy Nutritionals to be represented at this event. The very foundation of the micronutrient research discussed throughout the summit traces back to David Hardy, the founder and formulator behind Hardy Nutritionals. David is recognized as the original developer of broad-spectrum micronutrient therapy for clinical mental health treatment — the approach that inspired an entire field of study and helped establish nutritional psychiatry as a serious scientific discipline.

The formula that evolved into Daily Essential Nutrients (DEN) remains, to this day, the most researched micronutrient formula for mental health in the world. Decades of independent research — including more than 60 peer-reviewed papers published by researchers at top universities — continue to validate what Hardy Nutritionals has always known: when the brain receives the full complement of essential vitamins and minerals it needs, mental health can stabilize naturally.

Meeting the Moment

At our booth, the Hardy Nutritionals team was inspired by the number of professionals who stopped by to learn more about micronutrient therapy and share their own clinical experiences. Conversations focused on the real-world applications of DEN, how to integrate micronutrient therapy with existing treatment protocols, and how nutrient restoration supports medication reduction in collaboration with prescribing physicians.

Every connection reinforced the same message — that the future of mental wellness lies in understanding and addressing the body’s biochemical needs, not just its symptoms. The dialogue was rich, the energy was optimistic, and the global acceptance of nutrition as a legitimate component of psychiatric care felt more tangible than ever.

The Talk That Sparked a Global Conversation

Years before nutritional psychiatry entered the mainstream, Dr. Julia Rucklidge delivered a TEDx Talk titled “The Surprisingly Dramatic Role of Nutrition in Mental Health.” It was thoughtful, evidence-based — and, ironically, flagged as “controversial.”

At the time, suggesting that nutrition could meaningfully impact mental health challenged the traditional medical model. Most physicians received little to no training in nutrition, and holistic approaches were often misunderstood or unfairly lumped in with pseudoscience. Dr. Rucklidge’s talk stood out precisely because it was grounded in decades of clinical data and academic rigor.

She acknowledged the value of medications for many individuals while highlighting that nutrition often addresses the root cause of dysregulation — and, for some, can reduce or even replace the need for medication altogether. Her once-“controversial” stance has since become one of the most cited and respected perspectives in modern nutritional psychiatry.

Looking Ahead

Hardy Nutritionals will continue building on the momentum from the NMI Summit by partnering with practitioners and researchers worldwide who are integrating broad-spectrum micronutrients into clinical care. Our team remains dedicated to advancing the science and accessibility of nutrient-based mental health support through ongoing research, practitioner education, and global collaboration.

We left London encouraged, energized, and deeply grateful to be part of a growing international movement committed to transforming mental health care through nutrition.
